Alba	The Roman name for Scotland
Bejant	A first year male student, from the French "bec jaune" meaning yellow beak or fledgling.
Bejantine	A first year female student. See Bejant.
Culdees	Meaning "Companions of God", they were a Celtic speaking group of non-celibate clergy. Loosely allied with Rome, they seem to date from the early 9th century.
Gowf	Vernacular Scots for "Golf"
Matriculate	The process of enrolling at the university. It has connotations of public records and an etymology in the word matrix (Latin) ... "mother's womb"
