After graduating from the University
of St.Andrews in Scotland, my first job was with a company
called ICL, developing software to allow engineers to run diagnostics
on components of ICL's mainframe computers. It was a lovely environment
... our offices were in the Duke of Buccleugh's palace just outside
Edinburgh.

After two years there, I got the opportunity to work at Bell Labs (in Holmdel) porting the UNIX (system 3) kernel to an 8086 based machine. This was initially supposed to be a 1 year assignment, but I met my wife here at Bell Labs and 1 year has somehow become 20.
In the interim I have worked on projects developing UNIX device drivers for the PC6300+, provisioning systems such as TOPAS and ACORN, and project management at Unix System Labs in Summit. Before joining AT&T as an employee, I was working for NCR in Lincroft developing integration utilities for Systems Manager, OpenView, Remedy, Nerve Center and Operations Center. I really loved that assignment as I got to develop management solutions for NCR's Auto Teller Machines built in Dundee, Scotland.
(From 1996 - 2000 I was contracting through Atlantic Networks.)
In addition to my duties as a husband and father, I am very active with my church. It's a tremendous inspiration to me and privilege to be part of this church family ... the folks there really know what it is to grow and serve together.
Traveling to and from work, or while out walking for exercise I also enjoy amateur radio. NASA accepted an application developed by a few amateur radio operators to allow students from my son's school to talk by amateur radio with an astronaut on the MIR Space Station. This occurred on April 9th, 1998.
